Playground Update!

It’s only 17 days until Build Day at the Belding-Garcia Playground in Richmond, CA! If you’re wondering what we’re talking about check out this old post: http://livieandlucablog.com/?p=972

This community playground will be built in ONE day so there is a lot of prep work to be done to make sure things go smoothly on October 26th.

Last week some of us from Livie & Luca went to visit the playground during the demolition to solidify details of the build and to talk about side projects. These side projects include: a Tot Lot (sandbox area with playhouse and water area), a seating wall made of wood logs, a skate park, a central picnic plaza with BBQ and picnic tables, and a re-purposed entryway (see pic below of the old structure – we are going to put legs on it, repaint it, and plant vines next to it to grow up and over!)

In true L&L fashion we are going to paint the pathway surrounding the park and brighten up the surface of the skate park with a checkerboard print!

These are all in addition to the big projects such as the play structures and adjacent futsol court.

Here in the office we had a Craftermorning with the Richmond City officials and some of the community members who live in the neighborhood where the playground is being built. We made a fun fabric barricade out of old T-shirts that we’ll be using along with caution tape for the official construction site.
