Joyful Foot Philosophy

We’ve prepared a guide to help you keep your Livie & Luca shoes clean and in top condition.

See the easy care and cleaning instructions below for the various upper materials we use.

Our footwear is made from premium leathers and textiles providing uncompromising quality and exceptional durability, but these fine materials do require special care. Find your shoe material type below and follow our detailed instructions.

Please keep in mind that because leather is a natural material, results may vary when washing your shoes.

Suede & Nubuck

1. Use a suede protector. These will repel precipitation and oil and protect from salt stains.

2. Most liquid (non oil) stains: Soak up the liquid with a cloth or paper towel and dab the stain with a towel dampened with white vinegar. Do not over-apply vinegar!

3. Oil stains: Blot the stain with a cloth or paper towel to remove as much of the spot as you can and then cover the stain with baking soda or cornstarch. Let the baking soda soak up the grease/oil for a few hours before buffing it clean with your suede brush.

4. Removing scuff marks: invest in a suede brush to remove dried debris. You can also buff your suede with the brush to keep it in shape. Use a pencil eraser or toothbrush to remove scuff marks or small stains. The sooner you try to remove the stain the better.

5.Cleaning muddy wet boots: Stuff the wet boots with paper towel or newspaper and wait for them to dry. Do not try to remove mud when wet. When boots are dry, brush off dirt.

Full Grain and Analine Leathers

1. Wipe down with a damp wash cloth and leave out to dry naturally, avoiding sunlight.

2. If you choose to polish shoes, use a high quality cream polish that matches your shoe color, then buff to a shine.

3. Avoid washing in the machine if possible as it may alter the look and feel of your child’s shoes.

Patent Leather

1. Use a soft damp cloth and a drop of mild soap to remove any haze.

2. Do not use any harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to clean.

Canvas & Textiles

1. Machine wash on delicate or hand-wash cycle with a tiny amount of detergent

2. Leave out to dry naturally. Avoiding sunlight and keep away from the heater. Do not tumble dry.

Weather-Proofing

1. To weather-proof your child’s shoes, we suggest a non-silicone spray or a rain/stain repellant.

2. Spray does not make the shoes waterproof, just water resistant.

3. Spot test on an inconspicuous area first.
